Glutathione (GSH) is the most import intracellular anti-oxidizing/detoxifying agent in the body. Chronic oxidative stress, some pathologies and the aging process can reduce GSH. The good news is that GSH can be restored. When severely depleted it can be given via the intravenous route. Under normal circumstances it can be given orally, nasally or topically. I prefer the oral route, however, supplementation with straight GSH results in poor absorption. The 2 forms that result in the best absorption are liposomal glutathione (liquid) and acetyl glutathione (capsule). The liposomal form may have an odor depending on the manufacturer. I use and recommend the acetyl form.
